DTC P0340 (Cam) - Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Turn ignition to OFF. Disconnect connector from CMP sensor. Measure resistance of harness between CMP sensor connector E15, terminal No. 1 and ground. If resistance is 100 k/ohms or more, check and repair open circuit of harness between CMP sensor and ECM connector, poor contact in ECM connector or poor contact in harness coupling B20, between CMP sensor connector and ECM connector. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, repair short between CMP sensor connector and ECM connector.NOTE: Harness between both connectors is shielded. Repair short circuit of harness together with shield.
Measure resistance between CMP connector E15, terminal No. 2 and ground, go to step 2). If resistance is more than 10 ohms, check and repair as necessary, open circuit on harness between CMP sensor connector and ECM connector, poor contact in ECM connector or poor contact in coupling connector B20, between CMP sensor connector and ECM connector.
- Check to ensure CMP installation bolts are tight. If loose, tighten securely. If tight, remove CMP sensor and measure resistance between sensor terminals. If resistance is 1-4 ohms, repair poor contact in CMP connector. If resistance is more than 4 ohms, replace CMP sensor.
