Ignition Timing

Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Turn A/C off. Connect Subaru Test Mode Monitor to test mode monitor connector, located under left side of dash. See Fig 1 . Using test mode monitor, select MODE 07 to determine ignition timing. Refer to the IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS  table. If ignition timing is not as specified, check self-diagnostic system for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Repair as necessary. See TESTS W/CODES article.
