Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

NOTE: All testing procedures are performed with engine at normal operating temperature. For further TP sensor diagnosis, see the TESTS W/CODES article.
  1. Turn ignition on. With throttle fully closed, check and record voltage to ground at the specified ECM terminals. Refer to the TP SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. If necessary, loosen retaining screws and rotate TP sensor until correct voltages are obtained. Replace TP sensor if voltage cannot be adjusted to specification.
TP SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS

Throttle Position & Terminal No. Specification
Throttle Fully Closed, Terminal Nos. 6 & 20 (1) 0.4-0.5 Volts
(1) Checked by backprobing ECM harness connector terminals and with ignition on.
