DTC P0117 (TW_High): ECT Sensor Circuit High Input
- Turn ignition off. Connect SSM. Start engine. Set SSM function mode to F04. If displayed value is more than - 40°F (- 40°C), repair poor contact in connectors or wiring of ECT sensor connector, ECM connector or coupling connector E21. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If displayed value is less than -40°F (-40°C), go to step 3).
- Turn ignition off. Remove air intake duct. Remove idle air control solenoid valve by-pass air hose (2.2L). Disconnect ECT sensor connector. Check voltage between ECT sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If voltage reading is more than 10 volts, repair short circuit in wiring between ECT sensor connector and ECM connector. If voltage reading is 10 volts or less, turn ignition on. Check voltage between ECT sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If voltage reading is more than 10 volts, repair short circuit in wiring between ECT sensor connector and ECM connector. If voltage reading is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
- Check voltage between ECT sensor connector terminal No. 1 and chassis ground. If voltage is 4 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4 volts, repair open circuit in wiring or poor contact at ECM and ECT sensor connector.
- Turn ignition off. Check resistance between ETC connector terminal No. 2 and chassis ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace ECT sensor. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in wiring or poor contact in ECM and ECT sensor connectors.
