DTC P0106 (P_R): Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. If DTC P0106 is only code set, go to next step. If DTC(s) P0107, P0108, P1102 or P1122 exist, diagnose and repair those DTC(s) and DO NOT diagnose DTC P0106.
- Start engine. Observe intake manifold absolute pressure reading. If displayed value is more than 25.12 in. Hg, go to step 4). If displayed value is less than 25.12 in. Hg, go to next step.
- Observe atmospheric absolute pressure signal. If displayed value is less than 9.45 in. Hg, go to step 5). If displayed value is more than 39.29 in. Hg, replace pressure sensor and retest system. If displayed value is less than 39.29 in. Hg, check for poor terminal contact at pressure sensor connector, switching solenoid connector or PCM connector.
- Check vacuum hose between pressure sensor and pressure switching solenoid for clog, restriction or leak. Check vacuum hose between intake manifold and pressure switching solenoid for clog, restriction or leak. Check filter in-line with vacuum hose to intake port. Repair or replace as necessary. If vacuum hoses are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Connect test mode connector (under left side of dash). Turn ignition on. If switching solenoid is clicking on and off every 1.5 seconds, replace pressure sensor. If switching solenoid is not clicking, replace pressure sources switching solenoid.
