Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

NOTE: All testing procedures are performed with engine at normal operating temperature. For further TP sensor diagnosis, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.

Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. With throttle fully closed, observe TP sensor voltage and throttle opening angle. TP sensor voltage should be 0.5 volt with throttle completely closed (zero percent throttle angle). If necessary, loosen retaining screws and rotate TP sensor until correct voltage is obtained. Replace TP sensor if voltage cannot be adjusted to specification.
