DTC P1443: EVAP System Vent Control Function Problem

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. Retrieve DTCs. If any DTCs other than P1443 exist, repair those DTCs first. If DTC P1443 is only DTC set, check the following:
    • Blockage Of Air Filter
    • Blockage Of Junction Pipe
    • Blockage Of Vent Hoses Between Air Filter And Junction Pipe
    • Blockage Of Vent Hose Between Drain Valve And Air Filter
    • Blockage Of Vent Hoses Between Canister And Drain Valve

See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, go to next step.

  2. Turn ignition off. Connect test mode connector. See Figure and Figure . Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select "COMPULSORY VALVE OPERATION CHECK" mode. Activate drain valve with scan tool and listen for clicking sound from valve. If clicking sound was heard, manufacturer recommends contacting factory service personnel because probable cause is deterioration of multiple parts. Check for intermittent connections. If no clicking was heard, replace drain valve.
