DESCRIPTION
(11) WXV-79 ENGINE CONTROL MODULE SERVICE PROGRAM
The WXV-79 Service Program involves the inspection and possible replacement of the engine control module on some 2000 MY Legacy/Outback models with manual transmission.
As indicated in the Service Program Bulletin, there is a very small possibility that the Front Oxygen (Air/Fuel Ratio) Sensor on affected vehicles may become inoperative when the vehicle has been in use for an extended period of time with a malfunctioning ECM.
The inspection process involves checking the ECM for trouble codes prior to replacement. Dealers should be reminded that the Front Oxygen (A/F) Sensor should ONLY be replaced when trouble codes P1130 or P1131 are present. Replaced sensors may be requested for return to SOA for testing.
