Description & Operation
Automatic transaxle is electronically controlled by a Transaxle Control Module (TCM). The TCM controls shift points, engine braking, lock-up Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) operation and other various operations. Transaxle features a hydraulic lock-up torque converter, 2 planetary gear sets, 2 one-way clutches, 4 multi-plate clutches and a brake clutch. Electronically controlled full-time AWD system has a hydraulic pressure control transfer unit incorporating duty solenoid and multi-plate transfer type clutch on rear of transaxle. See Fig 1 .
