Inhibitor Switch Adjustment

  1. Separate cable end from selector lever. Using a circuit tester, check continuity at connector T3 for all positions. See INHIBITOR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  table for specifications. For connector terminal identification, see Fig 1 . Ensure continuity in ignition circuit does not exist at terminals No. 11 and 12 when selector lever is in "R", "D", "3", "2" and "1" positions.
  2. Check continuity when selector lever is moved 1.5 degrees in both directions from "N" range. If there is continuity in one direction and not in the other or if there is continuity at unequal points, adjust inhibitor switch.
  3. To adjust, loosen 3 inhibitor switch securing bolts and selector lever to "N" range. Insert Stopper Pin (499267300 ) as vertical as possible into holes in inhibitor switch lever and switch body. See Fig 2 . Tighten 3 inhibitor switch bolts. Remove stopper pin and repeat checks. If inhibitor switch cannot be adjusted, replace inhibitor switch.
