Clutch Assembly: Inspection
- Check clutch disc runout by mounting disc on clutch disc guide. Mount dial indicator with plunger against disc face.
- Measure runout near outer edge of disc face. Check clutch disc for wear. Minimum height of lining above rivet heads is .012" (.30 mm). Maximum runout is .039" (1.00 mm). Check clutch disc for broken torsion springs and loose rivets.
- Check clutch release bearing and pilot bearing for damage or rough rotation. Replace if defective. Inspect pressure plate and flywheel. Light surface roughness may be dressed with fine emery cloth. If surfaces are deeply scored, replace defective parts.
