Key Warning Switch Diagnostic Test

  1. Remove and visually inspect fuse No. 6 located in main fuse box. If fuse No. 6 is blown, replace fuse. If fuse No. 6 is not blown, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect connector from keyless entry control module. Insert key into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure voltage between keyless entry control module connector terminals No. 16 and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace keyless entry control module. See KEYLESS ENTRY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect connector from key warning switch. Measure voltage between key warning switch connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring harness between battery and key warning switch.
  4. Measure resistance between key warning switch connector terminal No. 1 and keyless entry control module connector terminal No. 16. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace key warning switch. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, repair wiring harness between key warning switch and keyless entry control module.
