DTC P1443: EVAP System Vent Control Function Problem

  1. Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If any DTCs other than P1443 exist, repair those DTCs first. If DTC P1443 is only DTC set, check the following:
    • Blockage of drain filter.
    • Blockage of vent hose between drain valve and drain filter.
    • Blockage of vent hoses between canister and drain valve.

Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, go to next step.

  2. Turn ignition off. Connect test mode connector. See Figure . Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. While using scan tool to command drain valve on and off, listen for clicking sound from valve. If clicking sound was heard, contact authorized Subaru dealership because probable cause is deterioration of multiple parts. If no clicking sound was heard, replace drain valve. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
