Intake Manifold: Removal
- Release fuel pressure. Refer to RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE , OPERATION, Fuel.
- Open fuel flap lid, and remove fuel filler cap.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove air intake duct and air cleaner case. Refer to REMOVAL , Air Intake Duct and REMOVAL , Air Cleaner Case.
- Disconnect accelerator cable (A).
- Disconnect cruise control cable (B). (With cruise control model)
- Remove power steering pump and tank from brackets.
- Remove resonator chamber. Refer to REMOVAL , Resonator Chamber.
- Remove front V-belt. Refer to REMOVAL , V-belt.
- Remove bolts which hold power steering pipes onto intake manifold protector.NOTE: Do not disconnect power steering hose.
- Remove bolts which install power steering pump bracket.
- Disconnect connector from power steering pump switch.
- Remove power steering tank from the bracket by pulling it upwards.
- Place power steering pump and tank on the right side wheel apron.
- Disconnect spark plug cords from spark plugs.
- Disconnect PCV hose from intake manifold.
- Disconnect engine coolant hose (A) from throttle body.
- Disconnect brake booster hose.
- Remove air cleaner case stay RH and engine harness bracket, and disconnect engine harness connectors from bulkhead harness connectors.
- Disconnect connectors from engine coolant temperature sensor.
- Disconnect knock sensor connector.
- Disconnect connector from crankshaft position sensor.
- Disconnect connector from oil pressure switch.
- Disconnect connector from camshaft position sensor.
- Remove EGR pipe from intake manifold and cylinder head.
- Using ST, disconnect fuel hoses from fuel pipes. Refer to
REMOVAL , Fuel Delivery, Return and Evaporation Lines.WARNING:
- Do not spill fuel.
- Catch fuel from hoses in a container or cloth.
ST 42099AE000: CONNECTOR REMOVER
- Remove bolts which hold intake manifold onto cylinder heads, and remove intake manifold.
