Operation Of The N-R Lock Mechanism: Notes

  1. When the ignition switch is ON (select lever in N, D, 3, 2 or 1 range) and the vehicle speed is below 10 km/h (6.2 MPH), the solenoid is activated moving the lock plate to release the N-R lock, thus reverse speed can be selected.
  2. When the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h (6.2 MPH), the solenoid is deactivated moving the lock plate to engage the N-R lock and prohibit shifting to reverse speed.
