Fuel Pump: Removal

WARNING: Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to spill fuel.
When the fuel meter indication is higher than two third of the total, perform the work after draining the fuel not to spill the fuel.

NOTE: Fuel pump assembly consists of fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel level sensor.

Release the fuel pressure. Refer to RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE , PROCEDURE, Fuel .
Drain fuel. Refer to DRAINING FUEL (WITH SUBARU SELECT MONITOR) , PROCEDURE, Fuel .
Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to REMOVAL , Rear Seat .
Remove the service hole cover.
1. Remove the bolt (A).
2. Push the grommet (B) down and remove the service hole cover.

Disconnect the connector from fuel pump.

Disconnect the quick connector, then disconnect the fuel delivery tube, fuel return tube, and jet pump tube. Refer to REMOVAL , Fuel Delivery, Return and Evaporation Lines .
Remove the nuts which install fuel pump assembly onto fuel tank.

Remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.
