Diagnostic procedure

  1. Perform the Clear Memory Mode. Refer to CLEAR MEMORY MODE .
  2. With the ignition switch ON (engine stopped), read the value in «Coolant Temp.» and «Intake Air Temp.». Refer to DISPLAY CURRENT ENGINE DATA .
  3. If the values from step  2) satisfy the following conditions, idle the engine for one minute.

    Condition: 

    |Engine coolant temperature - Intake air temperature| ≤ 5°C (9°F) 

    NOTE:
    • If the conditions are not satisfied, turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait until the parameters are satisfied.
    • For CVT models, hold the select lever to "P" range or "N" range at idling, and for MT models, the shift lever in the neutral position at idling.
  4. Read the temporary code using the Subaru Select Monitor or general scan tool. Refer to OPERATION .
