SERVICE INFORMATION

This information which was originally released in the May 2011 issue of TIPS has been updated to include all 2011 and 2012 Forester, Legacy, Outback and Impreza models. There is a possibility DTC P0126 may set if the vehicle is equipped with a block heater and it is used when outside temperatures are above freezing. Block heaters will raise the coolant temperature by about 50F. If the engine coolant temperature shown in the freeze frame data is above 35°C (95°F) and a temperature difference between engine coolant and intake air is more than 15°C (59°F), P0126 may set. If nothing is found when diagnosing the code, clear the memory and return vehicle to customer. Please inform your customers that the block heater should only be used when outside temperatures are below freezing.
