Converter Case: Installation

Check the appearance of each component and clean them.
Press-fit the oil seal to the converter case using ST.
NOTE: Use a new oil seal.

Install the front differential assembly and left and right side retainers to the case. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Differential Assembly. >
Remove the oil pump cover from the AT main case, and then adjust and check the backlash and tooth contact of the front differential. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Oil Pump Cover. > < Ref. to ADJUSTMENT , Front Differential Assembly. > < Ref. to ADJUSTMENT , Drive Pinion Shaft Assembly. >
Apply proper amount of liquid gasket to the entire matching surface of converter case.
Liquid gasket:

THREE BOND 1215 (Part No. 004403007) or equivalent

Install the converter case assembly without damaging bushing and oil seal.
NOTE: Use a new bolt for the oil charge pipe and ATF AT pipe portions.

Tightening torque:

Oil charge pipe and ATF AT pipe portions

38 N.m (3.9 kgf-m, 28.0 ft-lb)

Other than above

41 N.m (4.2 kgf-m, 30.2 ft-lb)
Install the three converter case mounting bolts (TORX®).
Tightening torque:

41 N.m (4.2 kgf-m, 30.2 ft-lb)

Apply proper amount of liquid gasket to the entire oil pan mating surface, and then install it.
Liquid gasket:

THREE BOND 1217B (Part No. K0877YA020) or equivalent

Tightening torque:

5 N.m (0.5 kgf-m, 3.7 ft-lb)

Install the turbine speed sensor 1. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Turbine Speed Sensor 1. >
Install the ATF AT pipe. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , ATF Cooler Pipe and Hose. >
Tightening torque:

41 N.m (4.2 kgf-m, 30.2 ft-lb)
Install the transmission harness connector to the stay.
Install the oil charge pipe. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Oil Charge Pipe. >
Install the air breather hose. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Air Breather Hose. >
Install the torque converter assembly. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Torque Converter Assembly. >
Install the transmission assembly to the vehicle. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Automatic Transmission Assembly. >
