Inspection steps

  1. Reading diagnostic codes
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn on the SSM3.
    4. Follow the SSM3 on-screen instructions to check the DTC. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DTC )

      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B

      B: To corresponding DTC chart (refer to DTC TABLE )

      A: Go to next step

  2. Engine oil temperature sensor check
    1. Disconnect the connector from the engine oil temperature sensor.
    2. Measure the resistance between engine oil temperature sensor terminals both when the engine is cooled and warmed.

      Result

      Result Go to
      Resistance between C21-1 and C21-2 varies when the oil temperature is cooled and warmed. A
      Resistance between C21-1 and C21-2 does not vary when the oil temperature is cooled and warmed. B

      B: Replace the engine oil temperature sensor.

      A: Repair a poor contact of ECM connectors.
