Inspection steps
- MIL illumination check
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check that the MIL illuminates in the combination meter assembly.
Result
Result Go to Does not illuminate A Illuminates B B: Go to related circuit inspection listed in symptom table (Refer to SYMPTOM TABLE )
A: Go to next step
- Reading SSM3 data
- Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check that the communication between SSM3 and engine control computer can be executed normally.NOTE: [Current Data Display & Save] for engine can be checked.
Result
Result Go to Communication not detected. A Communication detected. B B: Go to MIL CIRCUIT INSPECTION (Refer to )
A: Go to next step
- Check throttle body assembly (with motor) (short-circuit inspection)
- Disconnect the connector for throttle body assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL in the combination meter assembly.
Result
Result Go to Does not illuminate A Illuminates B B: Replacement of throttle body assembly (with motor) (refer to REMOVAL )
A: Go to next step
- Check air pressure sensor assembly (short-circuit inspection)
- Disconnect the connector for air pressure sensor assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL in the combination meter assembly.
Result
Result Go to Does not illuminate A Illuminates B B: Replacement of air pressure sensor assembly (refer to VACUUM SENSOR ASSEMBLY (FA20) )
A: Go to next step
- Check fuel pressure sensor (short-circuit inspection)
- Disconnect the connector for the fuel pressure sensor.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL in the combination meter assembly.
Result
Result Go to Does not illuminate A Illuminates B B: Replacement of the fuel pressure sensor (refer to REMOVAL )
A: Go to next step
- Check accelerator pedal sensor assembly (short-circuit inspection)
- Disconnect the connector for accelerator pedal sensor assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL in the combination meter assembly.
Result
Result Go to Does not illuminate A Illuminates B B: Replacement of accelerator pedal sensor assembly (refer to ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD ASSEMBLY (FA20) )
A: Go to next step
- Check battery current sensor (short-circuit inspection)
- Disconnect the connector for battery current sensor.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL in the combination meter assembly.
Result
Result Go to Does not illuminate A Illuminates B B: Replacement of battery current sensor (refer to BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR )
A: Go to next step
- Check canister pump module (short-circuit inspection)
- Check wiring harness and connector (short-circuit inspection)NOTE: For the inspection procedure and precautions for wiring harnesses and connectors, refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND HOW TO PERFORM .
- Disconnect the connector for throttle body assembly.
- Disconnect the connector for air pressure sensor assembly.
- Disconnect the connector for the fuel pressure sensor.
- Disconnect the connector for accelerator pedal sensor assembly.
- Disconnect the connector for battery current sensor.
- Disconnect the connector for the engine control computer.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals. (Refer to ECM TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT
for the terminal arrangement)
