Fuel Tank Assembly (Fa20): Removal

  1. Fuel spill prevention procedure (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM (FA20)  )
  2. Fuel draining (Refer to REMOVAL  )
  3. Disconnection of the battery ground terminal (Refer to WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES )
  4. Separate type rear seat cushion Assembly RH removal (Refer to DISASSEMBLY )
  5. Separate type rear seat cushion Assembly LH removal (Refer to DISASSEMBLY )
  6. Rear floor service hole cover removal
    1. Push in the grommet to remove the grommet from the rear floor service hole cover.
    2. Remove the butyl tape and remove the rear floor service hole cover.

    3. Disconnect the fuel sub sender gauge connector.

  7. Rear floor service hole cover No. 2 removal
    1. Push in the grommet to remove the grommet from the rear floor service hole cover No. 2.
    2. Remove the butyl tape and remove the rear floor service hole cover No. 2.

    3. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.

    4. Disconnect the fuel delivery tube. (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM (FA20)  )
      CAUTION: Be careful not to spill fuel.

  8. Removal of rear suspension member sub-assembly

    (Refer to REMOVAL )

  9. Fuel tank protector removal
    1. Remove the nut and two clips and remove the fuel tank protector.

  10. Parking brake cable Assembly No. 3 removal (Refer to INSTALLATION )
  11. Parking brake cable Assembly No. 2 removal (Refer to INSTALLATION )
  12. Disconnect Fuel Tank To Filler Pipe Hose
    1. Loosen the hose clamp bolt and disconnect the fuel tank to filler pipe hose.

  13. Disconnect Fuel Tank Vent Hose Subassembly
    1. Remove the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank vent hose subassembly.
    2. Disengage the clamp and separate the tube.

  14. Separate Charcoal Canister Assembly
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank vent tube as indicated by the arrows in the order shown in the illustration.

  15. Fuel tank Assembly removal
    CAUTION:
    • Two persons are required to perform this procedure.
    • The fuel may remain in the fuel tank and this may cause the left and right sides to be unbalanced. Be careful not to let the fuel tank Assembly fall off.
    1. Hold the fuel tank with the transmission jack.
    2. Remove the four bolts and remove the fuel tank band No. 1.

    3. Lower the transmission jack to remove the fuel tank Assembly.
  16. Remove Fuel Tank To Filler Pipe Hose
    1. Loosen the hose clamp bolt and remove the fuel tank to filler pipe hose from the fuel tank.
