Inspection steps

Drive the vehicle approx. at 10 km/h {6.25 MPH}, and depress the accelerator pedal assembly by half or by 3/4 of the way. While holding the depressed accelerator pedal assembly, depress the brake pedal with your left foot. When the engine speed drops approx. to 1000 r/min at this time, it is possible to determine that the control operates normally.

WARNING: Perform this test in the place where a drive check can be done safely, and pay special attention to the circumstance of the vehicle. Observe the traffic law such as legal speed limit when driving.
NOTE:
  • Normally, the value for [Accel. Opening Angle] of [Current Data Display & Save] changes according to the value for [Accel Sens. No. 1 Volt %]. (Values are not the same. Refer to CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE/SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE )
  • When the value for [Accel Sens. No. 1 Volt %] is constant, it is possible to determine that the control operates even if [Accel. Opening Angle] and [Accel Sens. No. 1 Volt %] in [Current Data Display & Save] differ from each other and the value for [Accel. Opening Angle] is fluctuating as well. (Using the data storage function of the SSM3, the data during driving can be recorded. The recorded data can be checked after driving.)
  • If a concern arises from a customer that the vehicle decelerates when he/she intentionally depresses the accelerator pedal and brake pedal simultaneously, ask the customer not to depress both pedals at the same time. (Example: While operating the accelerator pedal, operate the brake pedal with left foot.)
  1. Read DTC
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Select the following menu items using the SSM3.: [Inspection of BRZ]/[Inspection of ALL DTC]
    4. Check the DTC for the system that has been output.

      Result

      Result Go to
      No DTC is output A
      DTC is output. B

      B: To corresponding DTC chart

      A: Go to next step

  2. Read SSM3 data ([Stop Light Switch])
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn on the SSM3.
    4. Select the following menu items using the SSM3. [Inspection of BRZ]/[Each System Check]/[Engine Control System]/[Current Data Display & Save]/[Stop Light Switch]
    5. Read the data display.
      Item name Inspection conditions Criteria
[Stop Light Switch] Brake pedal is depressed. ON
      Brake pedal is released. OFF

NG: Check stop light circuit (refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )

      OK: Go to next step

  3. Check brake pedal support assembly
    1. Check and adjust the brake pedal. (refer to ADJUSTMENT )
NOTE: When ON operation of the stop light switch assembly is delayed, the control is also delayed. If the switch is turned on earlier, the operation starts accordingly at an early point. Therefore, check the brake pedal and stop light switch assembly.

NG: Check and replacement of brake pedal support assembly

      OK: Go to next step

  4. Reading SSM3 data (Accelerator Pedal Pos.#1, Accelerator Pedal Pos.#2)
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn on the SSM3.
    4. Select the following menu items using the SSM3. [Inspection of BRZ]/[Each System Check]/[Engine Control System]/[Current Data Display & Save]/[Accelerator Pedal Pos.#1] and [Accelerator Pedal Pos.#2].
    5. Read the data display.

      Criteria

      CRITERIA SPECIFICATION

      Inspection conditions Criteria
Accelerator pedal is fully closed →fully open. Changes continuously.
NOTE: Refer to CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE/SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE for normal value of [Accelerator Pedal Pos.#1] and [Accelerator Pedal Pos.#2] when the accelerator pedal is operated.

NG: Replacement of accelerator pedal sensor assembly (refer to ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD ASSEMBLY (FA20) )

      OK: Go to next step

  5. Read SSM3 data ([Vehicle Speed])
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn on the SSM3.
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Select the following menu items using the SSM3. [Inspection of BRZ]/[Each System Check]/[Engine Control System]/[Current Data Display & Save]/[Vehicle Speed]
    6. Read [Current Data Display & Save].

      Vehicle is parked. 0 km/h {0 MPH}
Vehicle is running at a constant speed. (16.1 to 64.4 km/h) {10 to 40 MPH} Significant fluctuation is not observed in the displayed speed.
WARNING: When performing the driving test, always observe the applicable traffic laws such as the speed limit.
NOTE: Using the data storage function of the SSM3, the data obtained during driving can be recorded. The recorded data can be checked after driving.
