Master Cylinder: Removal

CAUTION: Be careful not to spill the brake fluid. Brake fluid spilled on the vehicle body will harm the paint surface; wash it off with water and wipe clean quickly if spilled.
  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery. < Ref. to BATTERY , NOTE, Note. >
    NOTE: For models other than STI model, disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor.
  2. Remove the collector cover. (Except for STI model) < Ref. to REMOVAL , Collector Cover. >
  3. Drain the brake fluid. < Ref. to CLUTCH FLUIDS . >
  4. Remove the instrument panel lower cover. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Instrument Panel Lower Covers
  5. Remove the knee airbag module. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Knee Airbag Module. >
  6. Remove the snap pin and clevis pin, and then separate the push rod of the master cylinder.

  7. Remove the intercooler. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Intercooler. > < Ref. to REMOVAL , Intercooler. >
  8. Disconnect the clutch pipe and reservoir hose.

  9. Remove the clutch hose bracket from the bulkhead.
  10. Remove the master cylinder.
