Intake Manifold Assembly: Installation

  1. When installing fuel pipe protector No. 2 (Crosstrek model)
    1. Set the fuel pipe protector No. 2.

    2. Install the camshaft position sensor (intake LH side). Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>Camshaft Position Sensor>INSTALLATION>INTAKE SIDE .
  2. Connect the fuel delivery tube (B) to the fuel pipe. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>Fuel Delivery and Evaporation Lines>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE A) .
  3. Connect the fuel delivery pipe (A) to the fuel pipe. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>Fuel Delivery and Evaporation Lines>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE B) .

  4. Connect the fuel delivery pipe to the high-pressure fuel pump. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>Fuel Delivery and Evaporation Lines>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE C) .

  5. Install the cylinder head plate to the cylinder head.

  6. Set a new gasket and install the intake manifold assembly.
    NOTE: Be careful not to let the engine wiring harness be caught by the parts.

    Tightening torque: 

    25 N.m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

  7. Install the fuel pipe protector No. 1 together with the fuel pipe protector No. 2. (Crosstrek model)

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9kgf-m, 14.0ft-lb)

  8. Connect the connector (A) to the tumble generator valve LH.
  9. Install the clip securing the engine wiring harness.

  10. Install the harness protector.
    NOTE: Make sure 2 claws (C) are securely engaged in each position.
  11. Install the clip (B) securing the battery cables.
  12. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A).

  13. Connect the connector (A) to the EGR control valve.
  14. Install the fuel delivery tube.

  15. Secure the battery cable with the clip (A) and clip (B) in place. (Fixed capacity A/C model)
  16. Connect the connector (C), connector (D), and the terminal (E). (Fixed capacity A/C model)

    Tightening torque: 

    15.5N.m (1.6kfg-m, 11.4ft-lb)

  17. Secure the battery cable with the clip (A) and clip (B) in place. (Variable capacity A/C model)
  18. Connect the connector (C), connector (D), connector (E), and the terminal (F). (Variable capacity A/C model)

    Tightening torque: 

    15.5N.m (1.6kfg-m, 11.4ft-lb)

  19. Install the V-belt cover.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7kgf-m, 5.2ft-lb) 

  20. Set a new gasket, and install the stud bolts (B) using TORX® E8.

    Tightening torque: 

    5 N.m (0.5kgf-m, 3.7ft-lb) 

  21. Install the nut (A) securing the EGR cooler to the EGR control valve.

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9kgf-m, 14.0ft-lb) 

  22. Tighten the bolt (C) which secures the EGR cooler to the cylinder head RH.

    Tightening torque: 

    6.4N.m (0.7kgf-m, 4.7ft-lb)

  23. Connect the connector (A) to the tumble generator valve RH.
  24. Install the fuel delivery tube clamp (B).
  25. Install the clip (C) securing the engine wiring harness.

  26. Connect the preheater hose (A) to the throttle body, and connect the connector (B).
  27. Connect the connector (C) to the manifold absolute pressure sensor.
  28. Connect the connector (D) to the purge control solenoid valve, and install clip (E).
  29. Connect the evaporation hose (F) to the purge control solenoid valve.
  30. Connect the PCV hose (G).
  31. Install the bolt (H) securing the fuel pipe.

    Tightening torque: 

    6.4N.m (0.7kgf-m, 4.7ft-lb)

  32. Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>Air Intake Boot>INSTALLATION .
  33. Install the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>Battery>INSTALLATION .
  34. Fill engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO)>Engine Coolant>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
