Oil Pressure System: Inspection

INSPECTION WHEN OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED 

1. CHECK DTC  .

   Read the DTC using Subaru Select Monitor.

   NOTE: For detailed operation procedures, refer to "Help" of application  .

   Is DTC detected?

   Yes  : (1) Repair the corresponding system.

   (2) Go to  2 .

   No  : Go to  2 .

2. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL  .

   Check the engine oil level.

   Is engine oil level normal?

   Yes  : Go to  3 .

   No  : (1) Adjust the engine oil level to a proper amount.

   (2) Go to  3 .

3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT  .

   Start the engine, and check if the oil pressure warning light goes off.

   Does the oil pressure warning light go off?

   Yes  : System is normal.

   Restore the vehicle to its original state.

   No  : Go to  4 .

4. CHECK OIL PRESSURE SWITCH  .
   1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
   2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
   3. Disconnect the terminal from oil pressure switch, and wrap the terminal with vinyl tape for insulation.
   4. Connect the battery ground terminal.
   5. Start the engine.
   6. Check if the oil pressure warning light goes off.

   Does the oil pressure warning light go off?

   Yes  : Go to  6 .

   No  : Go to  5 .

5. CHECK INSULATION OF HARNESS BETWEEN COMBINATION METER AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCH  .
   1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
   2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
   3. Disconnect the connector from the combination meter.
   4. Check insulation of harness and chassis ground between combination meter and oil pressure switch.

   Are they insulated?

   Yes  : (1) Replace the combination meter.

   (2) Restore the vehicle to its original state.

   No  : (1) Repair the harness between combination meter and oil pressure switch.

   (2) Restore the vehicle to its original state.

6. CHECK OIL PRESSURE  .

   Check the oil pressure by using the oil pressure gauge.

   Is the oil pressure is normal?

   Yes  : (1) Replace the oil pressure switch.

   (2) Restore the vehicle to its original state.

   No  : Repair the engine assembly.
