Secondary Pressure (Line Pressure) Test: Inspection
WARNING:
During the secondary pressure (line pressure) test, confirm safety in the vicinity and make sure no person is around the vehicle.
CAUTION:
Vehicle components are extremely hot immediately after driving. Be wary of receiving burns from heated parts.
- Remove the test plug (secondary pressure (line pressure)), and install ST1, ST2 and ST3.CAUTION:
- Due to flowing out of CVT, quickly install the ST1, ST2 and ST3.
- Be careful when setting the tool so that the ST3 does not touch the exhaust pipe.
NOTE:- Use the ST1 with genuine O-ring (part No. 806908150) attached.
- Prepare the container for draining of engine oil.
Preparation tool:
ST1: OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ADAPTER (18681AA060)
ST2: OIL PRESSURE ADAPTER SET (498897700)
ST3: OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ASSY (18801AA000)
- Set the gauge so that it can be seen from the driver's seat.
- Place wheel chocks at the front and rear of all wheels and engage the parking brake.
- Connect the Subaru Select Monitor.NOTE: For detailed operation procedures, refer to "Help" of application.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON. (Engine OFF)
- Display [ATF Temp.].
- Turn off all systems causing an electrical load, such as headlights, A/C, seat heater and rear defogger.
- Check the engine oil level. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DO)>ENGINE OIL>INSPECTION .
- Check the engine coolant level. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO)>ENGINE COOLANT>INSPECTION .
- Check the CVTF level. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>CVTF>INSPECTION .
- Warm up until [ATF Temperature] reaches to 60 - 80°C (140 - 176°F).
- Turn OFF the pre-collision brake function. (Models with EyeSight)
- Record the secondary pressure (line pressure) with the engine idling.NOTE: When the engine is started with the select lever in the "P range" and the secondary pressure (line pressure) at idling is measured without shifting the select lever, the value may be higher than the standard. Therefore, be sure to shift the select lever in "D range" or "R range" before measurement.
Specification:
0.5 - 1.5 MPa (5.1 - 15.3 kgf/cm2 , 72 - 218 psi)
- Shift the select lever to "D range".
- Depress the accelerator pedal to the full while fully depressing the foot brake pedal with your left foot.CAUTION: Do not perform this procedure for over 5 seconds at a time.
- When the engine speed stabilizes, quickly record the secondary pressure (line pressure) and release the accelerator pedal.
Specification:
4.5 - 6.0 MPa (45.9 - 61.2 kgf/cm2 , 652 - 870 psi)
- Shift the select lever to "N range", and idle the engine for one minute or more.
- Shift the select lever to "R range" and perform the secondary pressure (line pressure) test in the same manner.
Specification:
4.5 - 6.0 MPa (45.9 - 61.2 kgf/cm2 , 652 - 870 psi)
- Remove the ST (OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ADAPTER, OIL PRESSURE ADAPTER SET and OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ASSY), and then install the test plug (secondary pressure (line pressure)) using a new O-ring.CAUTION: Due to flowing out of CVT, quickly install the test plug (secondary pressure (line pressure)).NOTE: Apply CVT to the O-rings.
Tightening torque:
13 N.m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.6 ft-lb)
- Check the CVT level. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>CVTF>INSPECTION .
