Fuel Tank ASSY (FA20): Removal
- Fuel spill prevention procedure (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM (FA20) )
- Draining of fuel (Refer to FUEL PUMP ASSY (FA20) )
- Disconnection of the battery ground terminal (Refer to WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES )
- Removal of separate type rear seat cushion ASSY RH (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of separate type rear seat cushion ASSY LH (Refer to REMOVAL
)
- Rear floor service hole cover removal
- Push in the grommet to remove the grommet from the rear floor service hole cover.
- Remove the butyl tape and remove the rear floor service hole cover.
- Disconnect the fuel sub sender gauge connector.
- Rear floor service hole cover NO. 2 removal
- Push in the grommet to remove the grommet from the rear floor service hole cover NO. 2.
- Remove the butyl tape and remove the rear floor service hole cover NO. 2.
- Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
- Disconnect the fuel delivery tube. (Refer to
FUEL SYSTEM (FA20) )CAUTION: Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Removal of rear suspension member SUB-ASSY (Refer to
REMOVAL
)
- Removal of the fuel tank protector (small fuel tank protector model)
- Remove the nut and two clips and remove the fuel tank protector.
- Removal of the fuel tank protector NO. 1 (large fuel tank protector model)
- Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 clips and remove the fuel tank protector NO. 1.
- Removal of the fuel tank protector NO. 2 (large fuel tank protector model)
- Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 clips and remove the fuel tank protector NO. 2.
- Parking brake cable ASSY NO. 3 removal (Refer to REMOVAL , Step 9 )
- Parking brake cable ASSY NO. 2 removal (Refer to REMOVAL
, Step 10
)
- DISCONNECT FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE
- Loosen the hose clamp bolt and disconnect the fuel tank to filler pipe hose.
- DISCONNECT FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUBASSEMBLY
- Remove the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly.
- Disengage the clamp and separate the tube.
- SEPARATE CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the fuel tank vent tube as indicated by the arrows in the order shown in the illustration.
- Fuel tank ASSY removalCAUTION:
- Two persons are required to perform this procedure.
- The fuel may remain in the fuel tank and this may cause the left and right sides to be unbalanced. Be careful not to let the fuel tank ASSY fall off.
- Hold the fuel tank with the transmission jack.
- Remove the four bolts and remove the fuel tank band NO. 1.
- Lower the transmission jack to remove the fuel tank ASSY
- REMOVE FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE
- Loosen the hose clamp bolt and remove the fuel tank to filler pipe hose from the fuel tank.
