Steering Angle Sensor: Removal
CAUTION:
- If the steering wheel and steering angle sensor are removed, perform "VDC SENSOR MIDPOINT SETTING MODE" of the VDC. Refer to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC Control Module and Hydraulic Control Unit (VDCCM&H/U)>ADJUSTMENT>VDC SENSOR MIDPOINT SETTING MODE .
- Before handling the airbag system components, always refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>General Description>CAUTION .
- Always use the steering wheel puller for removal to avoid deforming the steering wheel.
- If the steering wheel has been removed, make sure that the steering roll connector is not turned from the original position.
- Position the front wheels straight ahead.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the driver's airbag module. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>Driver's Airbag Module>REMOVAL .
- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>Steering Wheel>REMOVAL .
- Remove the column cover assembly. Refer to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>Steering Column>REMOVAL .
- Remove the steering roll connector.CAUTION: Make sure that the steering roll connector is not turned from the original position.
- Disconnect the connector under the steering roll connector.
- Release the claws and remove the steering roll connector.
- Remove the sensor assembly VDC steering.
- Release the claws and remove the sensor assembly VDC steering (b) from the steering roll connector (a).
