Draining Fuel (With Other Than SUBARU Select Monitor)
WARNING:
Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTION:
- Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Fuel may remain in the fuel filler pipe. Drain the fuel from the fuel filler pipe through the fill opening using the gasoline proof pump and the gasoline proof hose (010 or less) before the operation.
NOTE:
Be aware that the fuel may remain in the fuel tank after draining the fuel.
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler as a single unit.
Rear exhaust pipe:
Refer to EXHAUST (H4DO)>Rear Exhaust Pipe>REMOVAL
Muffler:
Refer to EXHAUST (H4DO)>Muffler>REMOVAL
- Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.
- Drain the fuel from the fuel filler pipe through the filler opening using the gasoline proof pump and the gasoline proof hose (010 or less).
- Remove the rear differential, Refer to DIFFERENTIALS>Rear Differential (VA-type)>REMOVALNOTE: This operation procedure would be possible by simply lowering the rear differential to the position that the work is possible. In that case, it is not necessary to pull out the drive shaft from the rear differential.
- Disconnect the quick connector of fuel filler pipe assembly from the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>REMOVAL>QUICK CONNECTOR DISCONNECTION (TYPE I) .CAUTION:
- Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Catch the fuel from the fuel filler pipe using a container or cloth.
- Set the container under the vehicle and insert the gasoline proof hose (010 or less) into the fuel tank to drain the fuel.CAUTION: Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Install the related parts in the reverse order after draining the fuel.NOTE: For information about connecting the quick connector on the fuel filler pipe assembly, refer to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE I) .
