Steering Wheel: Removal

CAUTION: Before handling the airbag system components, always refer to Airbag System>General Description>Caution .

Set the tire to the straight-ahead position.
Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to Repair Contents>Note>Battery .
Remove the driver's airbag module. Refer to Airbag System>Driver's Airbag Module>Removal .
Remove the steering wheel.
CAUTION:
- Always use the steering wheel puller for removal to avoid deforming the steering wheel.
- If the steering wheel has been removed, make sure that the steering roll connector is not turned from the original position.

Steering wheel puller
1. Disconnect the connector and remove the nut.
2. Put an alignment mark (a) using a ruler as shown in the figure, and remove the steering wheel.
