Inspection To Be Performed When The Select Lever Cannot Be Shifted From P Range
- CHECK DTC.
Read the DTC using Subaru Select Monitor.
Is DTC detected?
Yes: Repair the corresponding system.
NOTE: Before performing diagnosis for DTC, perform the basic inspection. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>General Description>INSPECTION .No: Go to 2.
NOTE: Keep the Subaru Select Monitor connected while the ignition switch is ON. - CHECK DTC.
- Maintain the brake pedal depressed for one second or more.
- Read the DTC using Subaru Select Monitor.
Is DTC B1016 displayed? (Current malfunction)
Yes: Check the corresponding system. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)>DTC B1016 SHIFT LOCK CIRCUIT .
No: Go to 3.
- CHECK CURRENT DATA.
Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [Stop Light Switch].
Is "ON" displayed when the brake pedal is depressed and "OFF" displayed when the brake pedal is released?
Yes: Go to 4.
No: Check the stop light system. Refer to LIGHTING SYSTEM>Stop Light System .
- CHECK CURRENT DATA.
Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [P SW].
Is "ON" displayed?
Yes: Go to 5.
No:
- Check the "P range" switch. Refer to CONTROL SYSTEMS>Shift Lock Solenoid and P Range Switch>INSPECTION .
- Check the harness for "P range" switch lines. Refer to WIRING SYSTEM>Shift Lock Control System>WIRING DIAGRAM .
- CHECK SELECT CABLE INSTALLATION CONDITION.
Check that the select cable is installed properly.
Is the select cable installed properly?
Yes: Go to 6.
No: Confirm that the select cable is free from damage. If no damage is found, connect it again.
- CHECK SELECT LEVER OPERATION.
- Disconnect the select cable from the transmission main body.
- Shift the select lever to another range.
Can the select lever be shifted?
Yes: Repair the transmission body.
CVT (TR580) model:
Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>Transmission Assembly>REMOVAL .
CVT (TR690) model:
Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR690)>Transmission Assembly>REMOVAL .
No: Go to 7.
- CHECK SELECT LEVER OPERATION.
- Disconnect the select cable from the select lever.
- Connect all harnesses.
- Shift the select lever to another range.
Can the select lever be shifted?
Yes: Replace the select cable.
No:
- Check the select lever main body and replace it if defective.
- If there is no defect in the select lever main body, replace the keyless access CM. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS CM .
