Engine Control Module (ECM): Installation

CAUTION: When the ECM of model with immobilizer has been replaced, be sure to perform the registration of immobilizer system.
  • For model without keyless access with push button start (for United States), refer to the Type G in appropriate service information.
  • For model without keyless access with push button start (for Canada), refer to the Type I in appropriate service information.
  • For model with keyless access with push button start, refer to the Type H in appropriate service information.
NOTE: When replacing the ECM, be careful not to use the ECM of wrong specification to avoid any damage on the fuel injection system.
  1. Install the ECM bracket.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  2. Temporarily install the ECM to the vehicle, tighten the fasteners in numerical order as shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  3. Connect the connector in numerical order as shown in the figure.

  4. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
