Front Exhaust Pipe: Installation

  1. Install the turbocharger stay.

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  2. Replace the intake duct No. 2 gasket with a new part, and lock the spring.

  3. Using a new gasket, temporarily install the front exhaust pipe, center exhaust pipe (front) and turbo charger as a unit.
    CAUTION:
    • Be sure to install the front exhaust pipe to the cylinder head  .
    • In order to prevent damaging the intake duct No. 2, temporarily install it with care while adjusting it by hand  .
    NOTE: Support the front exhaust pipe with the transmission jack.

  4. Tighten the nuts in the numerical order as shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    65 N.m (6.6 kgf-m, 47.9 ft-lb)

  5. Connect the intake duct No. 2, and the turbocharger.
    CAUTION: Confirm that the connections are secure.
  6. Install the bolt which secures the intake duct No. 2.

    Tightening torque: 

    16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)

  7. Install the bolts securing the exhaust stay.

    Tightening torque: 

    33 N.m (3.4 kgf-m, 24.3 ft-lb)

  8. Install the oil catch tank. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Oil Catch Tank>INSTALLATION .
  9. Connect the electronic control waste gate valve connector (A) and the electronic control air by-pass valve connector (B).

  10. Connect the rear oxygen sensor connector and ground cord.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  11. Connect the front oxygen (A/F) sensor connector, and install the clip.
  12. Install the intake duct No. 1. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Intake Duct>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 1 .
  13. Install the center exhaust pipe (rear). Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>Center Exhaust Pipe>INSTALLATION>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE (REAR) .
  14. Temporarily tighten the bolts which hold the turbocharger stay.

  15. Tighten the bolts which hold the turbocharger stay in the numerical order shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    33 N.m (3.4 kgf-m, 24.3 ft-lb)

  16. Use a new gasket to connect the oil pipe to the chain cover.

    Tightening torque: 

    24 N.m (2.4 kgf-m, 17.7 ft-lb)

  17. Connect the water hose to the water tank pipe assembly.
  18. Install the radiator fan and fan motor assembly. Ref. to COOLING (H4DOTC)>Radiator Fan and Fan Motor Assembly>INSTALLATION .
  19. Install the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Air Intake Duct>INSTALLATION .
  20. Check the engine oil level and replenish the engine oil if necessary. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DOTC)>Engine Oil>INSPECTION .
  21. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  22. Fill engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DOTC)>Engine Coolant>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
