Differential Side Retainer

NOTE: After adjusting the backlash and tooth contact of the hypoid gear set, replace the differential side retainer oil seal and O-ring with new parts.
  1. Remove the O-rings.

  2. Remove the differential side retainer oil seal.

  3. Remove the split pin (ST), and then remove the claw.

    Preparation tool: 

    ST: PULLER ASSY (398527700)

  4. Attach two claws to the side bearing outer race, and set the ST to the differential side retainer.

  5. Restore the removed claws to the original positions, and install the pin and split pin.
  6. Hold the shaft (ST) to avoid detachment from the differential side retainer, and remove the side bearing outer race.

    Preparation tool: 

    ST: PULLER ASSY (398527700)

    NOTE: Replace the side bearing inner race and side bearing outer races as a single unit.
