Fuel Filler Pipe: Removal
WARNING:
Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Release the fuel pressure. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL>PROCEDURE>RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE .
- Drain fuel. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL>PROCEDURE>DRAINING FUEL (WITH SUBARU SELECT MONITORS) .
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.
- Turn the fuel filler pipe protector in the direction of the arrow to release the lock (A) and remove it.
- Remove the rear sub frame assembly. Ref. to REAR SUSPENSION>SUB FRAME>REMOVAL .
- Remove the mud guard - rear RH. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>MUD GUARD>REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the fuel filler hose (A), drain tube (B) and circulate tube (C) from the fuel filler pipe assembly.

- Remove the drain tube from clip (D).
- Remove the bolts which secure the fuel filler pipe assembly.
- Remove the nuts which secure the fuel filler pipe assembly, and remove the fuel filler pipe assembly from underneath of the vehicle.
