2.0 L Model

  1. When installing fuel pipe protector No. 2 (Crosstrek model)
    1. Set the fuel pipe protector No. 2.

    2. Install the camshaft position sensor (intake LH side). Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR>INSTALLATION>INTAKE SIDE .
  2. Connect the fuel delivery tube (B) to the fuel pipe. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE A) .
  3. Connect the fuel delivery pipe (A) to the fuel pipe. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE B) .

  4. Connect the fuel delivery pipe to the high-pressure fuel pump. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>INSTALLATION>QUICK CONNECTOR CONNECTION (TYPE C) .

  5. Install the cylinder head plate to the cylinder head.

  6. Set a new gasket and install the intake manifold assembly.
    NOTE: Be careful not to let the engine wiring harness be caught by the parts.

    Tightening torque: 

    25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)

  7. Install the fuel pipe protector. (Impreza model)

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  8. Install the fuel pipe protector No. 1 together with the fuel pipe protector No. 2. (Crosstrek model)

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  9. Secure the engine wiring harness to the bracket with claw (B), and secure the battery cable assembly with claw (A).

  10. Install the engine wiring harness to the clip (D), and connect the terminal (C) and connector (B) to the main fuse box.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  11. Connect connector (A) to ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)>INSTALLATION .

  12. Hold the engine wiring harness with a new clip.
    1. Install the clip while aligning the alignment mark (A) of the engine wiring harness so that the band exposed length (B) comes on the vehicle lower side (C).
    2. Cut so that the band exposed length (B) becomes 5 mm (0.2 in) or less.

    3. Insert the clip all the way to the end and install so that the gap after inserting (A) becomes 3 mm (0.12 in) or less.

  13. Connect the connector to the tumble generator valve LH.

  14. Install the harness protector.
    NOTE: Make sure 2 claws (C) are securely engaged in each position.
  15. Install the clip (B) securing the battery cable assembly.
  16. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A).

  17. Connect the connector (A) to the EGR control valve.
  18. Install the fuel delivery tube.

  19. Secure the battery cable assembly with the clip (A) and clip (B). (Fixed displacement compressor model)
  20. Connect the connector (C), connector (D), and the terminal (E). (Fixed displacement compressor model)

    Tightening torque: 

    15.5 N.m (1.6 kfg-m, 11.4 ft-lb)

  21. Secure the battery cable assembly with the clip (A) and clip (B). (Variable displacement compressor model)
  22. Connect the connector (C), connector (D), connector (E), and the terminal (F). (Variable displacement compressor model)

    Tightening torque: 

    15.5 N.m (1.6 kfg-m, 11.4 ft-lb)

  23. Install the V-belt cover.
    NOTE:
    • Check the grommet for peel-off or disengagement.
    • Be careful not to deform the bracket during installation.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  24. Set a new gasket, and install the stud bolts (B) using TORX® E8.

    Tightening torque: 

    5 N.m (0.5 kgf-m, 3.7 ft-lb)

  25. Install the nut (A) securing the EGR cooler to the EGR control valve.

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  26. Tighten the bolt (C) which secures the EGR cooler to the cylinder head RH.

    Tightening torque: 

    6.4 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb)

  27. Connect the connector (A) to the tumble generator valve RH.
  28. Install the fuel delivery tube clamp (B).
  29. Install the clip (C) securing the engine wiring harness.

  30. Install the bolt securing the fuel pipe.

    Tightening torque: 

    6.4 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb)

  31. Connect the PCV hose No. 1 (E).
  32. Connect the evaporation hose (D) to the purge control solenoid valve.
  33. Connect the connector (B) to the purge control solenoid valve, and install clip (C).
  34. Connect the connector (A) to the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

  35. When the engine coolant remains before removing the intake manifold assembly
    1. Install the throttle body. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>THROTTLE BODY>INSTALLATION .
  36. When the engine coolant has been drained before removing the intake manifold assembly
    1. Connect the connector (A) and connect the preheater hoses (B).

  37. Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE BOOT>INSTALLATION .
  38. Install the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>BATTERY>INSTALLATION .
  39. If the fuel delivery tube is disconnected, perform the following work.
    1. Install the fuel filler cap, and close the fuel filler lid.
