Control Valve Body: Installation

  1. Check the control valve body for foreign matter adhesion.
  2. Set new O-rings.
    NOTE: Apply CVTF to the O-rings.

  3. Install the control valve body.
    1. Set the control valve body to the transmission body.
      CAUTION: Perform installation so that the O-ring is not displaced.
    2. Temporarily tighten the bolt (silver).

    3. Attach the bolt (black).

      Tightening torque: 

      9 N.m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)

    4. Tighten the bolt (silver).

      Tightening torque: 

      9 N.m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)

  4. Install a new O-ring to the transmission harness.
    NOTE: Apply CVTF to the O-rings.
  5. Temporarily attach the transmission harness to the valve cover.
  6. Set the gasket to the transmission body, and apply the liquid gasket to the oblong hole.
    NOTE:
    • Before applying liquid gasket, degrease the old liquid gasket seal surface of the transmission body and valve cover.
    • Install within 5 min. after applying liquid gasket.

    Liquid gasket: 

    THREE BOND 1215B or equivalent

  7. Connect the connector to the control valve body.
  8. Install the valve cover.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to catch the ST (SHEET SPECIAL TOOL).

    Tightening torque: 

    8 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.9 ft-lb)

  9. Tighten the bolt which holds the transmission harness.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  10. Remove the ST (SHEET SPECIAL TOOL).
  11. Install the throttle body. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>THROTTLE BODY>INSTALLATION .
  12. Install the clip, and connect the ground terminal.

    Tightening torque: 

    14 N.m (1.4 kgf-m, 10.3 ft-lb)

  13. Install the ground cord and the air breather hose stay.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  14. Connect the transmission harness connector to the engine wiring harness.
  15. Install the TCM. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>Transmission Control Module (TCM)>INSTALLATION .
  16. Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>AIR INTAKE BOOT>INSTALLATION .
  17. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to GROUND TERMINAL REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION .
  18. Check the CVTF level. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>CVTF>INSPECTION .
  19. Perform "Clear AT learning value" and "AT learning mode" using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>AT learning .
