Power Rear Gate System: General Description: Caution

When performing service operation, refer to "Repair Contents" in "General Description". Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS .
Before disconnecting connectors of sensors or units, be sure to disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor.
When replacing the parts provided with memory functions, record the memory contents before disconnecting the ground terminal from the battery sensor.
Disconnecting the ground terminal from the battery sensor may make manual open/close operation of the rear gate difficult.
This is because the open/close operation of the rear gate activates the brake mechanism for system protection of the power rear gate to prevent damage to the power rear gate control module.
After reassembly, close the rear gate and then connect the ground terminal to the battery sensor. Initialization of the power rear gate auto closer is necessary, when connection is performed with the rear gate open. Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>PROCEDURE>INITIALIZATION .
