Check With SUBARU Select Monitor

  1. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Display the [Front Relay Control Module] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

      Is DTC detected?

      Yes:  Perform a check according to the DTC.

      No:  Go to  2 .

  2. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Display the data of [body integrated unit] using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

      Is DTC detected?

      Yes:  Perform a check according to the DTC.

      No:  Go to  3 .

  3. CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT  .
    1. Display the data of [BATT Voltage (Control)], [BATT Voltage (BACKUP)] and [IGN Voltage] for [Front Relay Control Module] using Subaru Select Monitor.
    2. Display the data of [BATT voltage (control)], [BATT voltage (BACKUP)] and [IGN voltage] for [body integrated unit] using Subaru Select Monitor.

      Is the voltage 9 - 16 V?

      Yes:  Go to  4 .

      No:  Check the harnesses of the battery, fuse, connector and power supply circuit. If there is no abnormality, replace the front relay control module or the body integrated unit.

  4. CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT SETTING  .

    Check the setting of [Auto A/C Setting].

    Is the setting "Yes"?

    Yes:  Go to  5 .

    No:  Change the customize setting to "Yes".

  5. CHECK REAR DEFOGGER SYSTEM OPERATION  .

    Check the rear defogger system operation. Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>ACTIVE TEST .

    Does the rear defogger system operate normally?

    Yes:  Go to  6 .

    No:  Check the harnesses of the heat wire, relay and output circuit. If there is no abnormality, replace the front relay control module.

  6. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [Rr Defogger SW]. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Does the display change between [OFF] ←→ [ON], when the rear defogger switch is operated?

    Yes:  Go to  9 .

    No:  Go to  7 .

  7. CHECK INPUT CIRCUIT  .
    1. Switch to service diagnostics mode. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS MODE>OPERATION>PROCEDURE TO SWITCH TO SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS MODE .
    2. Select [Function Check]. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS MODE>OPERATION>SERVICE INSPECTION .
    3. Check [Rr DEF] and [Push] are displayed when the rear defogger switch is pressed.
    4. Check [Push] is switched to [Release] when the rear defogger switch is released.

      Does it operate normally?

      Yes:  Go to  8 .

      No:  Inspect the rear defogger switch and input circuit.

  8. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Display the [Cockpit Control] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

      Is DTC detected?

      Yes:  Perform a check according to the DTC.

      No:  Go to  9 .

  9. CHECK FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE  .

    Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [R Defogger Request]. Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Does the display change between [OFF] ←→ [ON], when the rear defogger switch is operated?

    Yes:  Replace the front relay control module.

    No:  Replace the body integrated unit.
