Oil Pump: Removal

  1. Remove the oil pump chain cover. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>OIL PUMP CHAIN>REMOVAL .
  2. Set the ST1, ST2, ST3 and ST4 as shown in the figure.
    NOTE: For ST4, use only the shaft.

    Preparation tool: 

    ST1: HOLDER (18361AA070)

    ST2: ADAPTER (18362AA080)

    ST3: STANDASSY (18632AA040)

    ST4: SLIDER (18351AA010)

  3. Attach the ST that was set in step 2.
    NOTE: Be careful not to push in anywhere other than portion (a) of the oil pump.

  4. Using the ST, push in the oil pump.
  5. Set a piece of piano wire. (When using as is)
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the circlip groove of the converter case.
    NOTE: Use the piano wire with 0.46 mm (0.018 in) or less in thickness.
    1. Move the end of the circlip (A) to the positioning groove (C) of oil pump.
    2. Insert the piano wire (B) from the clearance between the circlip (A) and the oil pump towards the positioning groove (C) of oil pump.
    3. Raise the piano wire (B) higher than the positioning groove (C) of oil pump, and hook to the circlip (A).

  6. Set a piece of piano wire. (When using by making a loop)
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the circlip groove of the converter case.
    NOTE: Use the piano wire with 0.46 mm (0.018 in) or less in thickness.
    1. Insert the looped piano wire (B) into the clearance (A) between the protrusion of oil pump and the positioning groove of oil pump.
    2. Move the circlip (C) so that it comes inside the loop.

  7. Pull the piano wire and remove the circlip.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the circlip groove of the converter case.

  8. Remove the ST from converter case.
  9. Set ST1 and ST2 as shown in the figure.
    NOTE: Tighten the nut of ST1 to the bottom of the screw (a).

    Preparation tool: 

    ST1: SLIDER (18351AA010)

    ST2: ADAPTER (18362AA090)

  10. Using the ST that was set in step 9, remove the oil pump.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the oil seal on the oil pump shaft portion.
    1. Raise the ring (A) of the ST, and move to the adapter (C).
    2. Expand the puller (B) to the left and right directions, and push in the oil pump shaft portion (D).
    3. Lower the ring (A), and lock the puller (B).

    4. Remove the oil pump.

  11. Remove the O-rings and backup ring.
