Master Cylinder: Removal
CAUTION:
- Be careful not to spill the brake fluid. Brake fluid spilled on the vehicle body will harm the paint surface; wash it off with water and wipe clean quickly if spilled.
- Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY
.NOTE: For models other than STI model, disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor.
- Remove the collector cover. (Except for STI model) Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>COLLECTOR COVER>REMOVAL .
- Drain the brake fluid. Refer to CLUTCH SYSTEM>CLUTCH FLUID .
- Remove the instrument panel lower cover. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the knee airbag module. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the snap pin and clevis pin, and then separate the push rod of the master cylinder.
- Remove the intercooler.
STI model:
Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
Except for STI model:
- Disconnect the clutch pipe and reservoir hose.
- Remove the clutch hose bracket from the bulkhead.
- Remove the master cylinder.
