Engine Control Module (ECM): Installation

CAUTION:
  • When replacing the ECM, be sure to perform [Entry VIN] after the service. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>WORK SUPPORT .
  • When the ECM of model with immobilizer has been replaced, be sure to perform the registration of immobilizer system.
    • Model without keyless access with push button start

      For models without immobilizer control module, refer to "Type B" described in "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER".

    • For models with immobilizer control module, refer to "Type E" described in "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER".
    • Model with keyless access with push button start

      Refer to "Type D" described in "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER".

NOTE: When replacing the ECM, be careful not to use the ECM of wrong specification to avoid any damage on the fuel injection system.
  1. Install the ECM bracket.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  2. Temporarily install the ECM to the vehicle, tighten the fasteners in numerical order as shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  3. Connect the connector in numerical order as shown in the figure.

  4. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
