Engine Control Module (ECM): Installation

CAUTION: When replacing the ECM, be sure to perform VIN registration, module registration and immobilizer registration after the service.
NOTE: When replacing the ECM, be careful not to use the ECM of wrong specification to avoid any damage on the fuel injection system.
  1. Install the ECM bracket.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  2. Temporarily install the ECM to the vehicle, tighten the fasteners in numerical order as shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  3. Connect the connector in numerical order as shown in the figure.

  4. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  5. When the ECM is replaced
    1. Perform [Entry VIN]. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION .
    2. Perform [Module registration]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>UNIT REGISTRATION>OPERATION .
    3. Perform the registration of immobilizer.
      NOTE: Refer to the "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER".
