Inspection When Engine Oil Level Warning Light Is On
- CHECK DTC
.
Read the DTC using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>OPERATION .
Is DTC detected?
Yes :
- Repair the corresponding system.
- Go to 2.
No: Go to 2.
- CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
.
Check the engine oil level. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DOTC)>ENGINE OIL>INSPECTION .
Is engine oil level normal?
Yes: Go to 3.
No :
- Adjust the engine oil level to a proper amount.
- Go to 3.
- CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT
.
- Start the engine and warm up completely.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for 1 minute or more.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check if engine oil level warning light goes off.
Does the engine oil level warning light go off?
Yes: System is normal.
Restore the vehicle to its original state.
No: Go to 4.
- CHECK OIL LEVEL SWITCH
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Disconnect the oil level switch connector.
- Check continuity between the oil level switch terminal and chassis ground.
Is there continuity?
Yes: Go to 5.
No: Replace the oil level switch. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DOTC)>OIL LEVEL SWITCH .
Restore the vehicle to its original state.
- CHECK CONTINUITY OF ENGINE WIRING HARNESS
.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Check continuity between the connector on the engine wiring harness oil level switch side and the connector on the engine wiring harness ECM side.
Is there continuity?
Yes: Go to 6.
No :
- Repair the engine wiring harness.
- Restore the vehicle to its original state.
- CHECK COMBINATION METER
.
- Restore the vehicle to its original state.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the diagnosis of combination meter. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>ACTIVE TEST .
Is combination meter OK?
Yes :
- Check for poor contact due to the wear of connector pin etc, and if no fault is found, replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DOTC)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .
- Restore the vehicle to its original state.
No :
- Replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .
- Restore the vehicle to its original state.
