Transfer Clutch: Inspection
- Check that there is no deformation, cracks or other damages.
- Check the bearing for smooth rotation.
- Check the bearing for looseness.
- Inspect the drive plate facing for excessive wear.
- Check the driven plate for discoloration (seizure).
- Check clearance between the snap ring and pressure plate (front side). Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION(TR580)>TRANSFER CLUTCH>ASSEMBLY .
- Check that tight corner braking phenomenon does not occur when the vehicle starts moving with the steering wheel in the lock position.
If tight corner braking phenomenon occurs, perform the following procedures.
- Turn OFF the X mode switch.
- With the steering wheel in the lock position, drive the vehicle in "D" range and with vehicle speed at approx. 5 km/h (3 MPH) in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions for approx. ten times each, while repeating acceleration and braking intermittently.
- If the tight corner braking phenomenon still persists, drive the vehicle again in a circle for several laps.
