Fuel Injector LH

  1. When replacing the fuel injector assembly with a new one (2.0 L model)
    CAUTION: When replacing the fuel injector assembly, select the assembly with the same flow rate stratification number.
    NOTE: The flow rate stratification numbers of all 4 cylinders are identical.

  2. When reusing the fuel injector
    1. Prepare the fuel injector assembly using the following new parts. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL INJECTOR>REPLACEMENT .
      • Fuel injector seal
      • Slider washer
      • Back-up ring
      • O-ring seal
      • Stopper ring
  3. Install the fuel injector holder.
    CAUTION: Always use a new fuel injector holder.

  4. Align the protrusion of the fuel injector holder to the anti-rotation slot of the fuel injector pipe LH, and install the fuel injector straight to the fuel injector pipe LH.
    CAUTION:
    • Degrease inside of the fuel injector insertion hole of the fuel injector pipe  .
    • Check the inside of the fuel injector insertion hole of the fuel injector pipe for foreign materials or damage  .
    • Be careful not to allow gasoline to contact with the fuel injector seal and the inside of the mounting hole  .
    • Apply liquid paraffin to the O-ring seal and install it  .
    • Be careful not to twist the O-ring seal  .
    • To prevent damage to the O-ring seal, insert the part straight along the fuel injector insertion axis without tilting it and avoid removing and inserting the part again  .
    • To prevent the tip of the fuel injector from bending, do not apply force to the fuel injector tip  .
    • Check that the tip of the fuel injector has no bend or damage  .
    • Make sure there is no gap between the fuel injector pipe and the fuel injector holder  .
    • Make sure there is no gap between the fuel injector and the fuel injector holder  .
    • 2.0 L model

  5. Install the fuel injector. (2.0 L model)
    1. Insert the fuel injector pipe LH and fuel injector as a single unit into the cylinder head, and align their positions. Then, evenly press the sections (A) and (B).
      CAUTION:
      • When installing, apply liquid paraffin to the fuel injector seal  .
      • In order to prevent damaging the O-ring seal, do not install the fuel injector pipe and fuel injector by tilting them toward the cylinder head  .

    2. Tighten the bolts which hold the fuel injector pipe LH, and connect the connector (A).

      Tightening torque  :

      19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  6. Install the fuel injector. (2.5 L model)
    1. Connect the coupling harness to the fuel injector #4.
    2. Insert the fuel injector pipe LH and fuel injector as a single unit into the cylinder head, and align their positions. Then, evenly press the sections (A) and (B).
      CAUTION:
      • When installing, apply liquid paraffin to the fuel injector seal  .
      • In order to prevent damaging the O-ring seal, do not install the fuel injector pipe and fuel injector by tilting them toward the cylinder head  .

    3. Tighten the bolts which hold the fuel injector pipe LH.

      Tightening torque  :

      19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb) 

    4. Connect the connector (C) to the fuel injector #2.
    5. Install the clip (B), and connect the connector (A) to the coupling harness.
      CAUTION: Do not pass the coupling harness through the shaded area (a) shown in the figure.

    6. Install the A/C compressor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>COMPRESSOR>INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the high-pressure fuel delivery pipe. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>HIGH PRESSURE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE>INSTALLATION>HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE .
  8. Install the high-pressure fuel delivery pipe assembly. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>HIGH PRESSURE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE>INSTALLATION>HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE ASSEMBLY .
  9. Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>AIR INTAKE BOOT>INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  11. Check refrigerant leaks. (2.5 L model) Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>REFRIGERANT LEAK CHECK>INSPECTION .
