Transmission Control Module (TCM): Removal

CAUTION:
  • When replacing the TCM, be sure to perform [Start count reading ECU to SSM] before operation and perform [Start count writing SSM to ECU] after operation. Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT>NOTE .
  • When [Start count reading ECU to SSM] cannot be performed due to TCM malfunction, be sure to replace the starter and fuel pump relay at the same time.
NOTE:

Record the customization information before work because the customization information will be set to the default values when the TCM is replaced. 

List:

Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>CUSTOMIZE>LIST .

Operation:

Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>CUSTOMIZE>OPERATION .

Starter: 

Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>STARTER .

Fuel pump relay: 

Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>FUEL PUMP RELAY .

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the clip from the air intake boot, and loosen the clamp.

  3. Remove the air intake boot, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with the work.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to pull out the PCV hose.

  4. Disconnect the ground cord.

  5. Remove the pitching stopper. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
  6. Remove the transmission case cover (front).

  7. Move the lock lever in the arrow direction while pressing the lock button (A), and disconnect the connector.

  8. Remove the TCM.
