Feedback Carburetor System: Description

The electronically controlled emission system uses sensors located throughout the vehicle to collect information. This ination is fed to an Electronic Control Module (ECM). The ECM uses this information to correctly adjust the pulse air control, fuel cut, idle-up and bowl vent systems, EGR system and secondary throttle system, as well as feedback system. The ECM is inside the instrument panel.

The ECM receives the following inputs: engine speed, throttle position, exhaust oxygen concentration, engine coolant temperature, clutch engagement, electric load (from headlights, coolant fan, rear defogger and heater fan), altitude compensation and engine compartment air temperature.
