Idle-Up System
The idle-up system uses a Three-Way Solenoid Valve (TWSV). The TWSV receives an electric signal from the ECM. Upon receiving the signal the TWSV opens its inner valve and transmits manifold vacuum to idle-up diaphragm. When diaphragm moves down due to vacuum, idle-up adjusting screw and rod also move down, opening throttle valve for idle up state.
The idle-up system increases engine idle speed under the following conditions: for about 5 seconds after warm engine is started, for about 3 seconds after deceleration when engine is warm, when oxygen sensor temperature is low and sensor is not satisfactorily activated and under electrical loads for lights, coolant fan, rear defogger and heater fan.
